It's been a big day for Shakira fans! Not only did la cantante Colombiana reveal the new album cover for her seventh studio album, 'Sale el Sol' on Twitter last night, but the new single off the album, "Loca," premiered today on various news outlets.
The absence of heavy make-up and softness that she exudes is a complete 180 from the “rock-star eat 'em alive” look for the cover of her previous album “She Wolf”, but either way works for us!
Shaki gave us a heads up about the album cover on her Twitter by posting a Twitpic of the artwork:
“Just finished the new album cover. What do you think? Recién terminada la portada del álbum, ¿les gusta? http://twitpic.com/2k4c21"
What do we think? Shaki, the sun doesn't hold a candle to the way you radiate in the photo! We can see the freckles on your cheeks, the subtle dust of sand on your shoulder, and to add that extra touch of “down-to-earth-ness”, we can see those silly shaped rubber bands that the kids are so crazy about on your wrists. We wouldn’t change a thing about it!
Just when her "Waka Waka" hold was starting to loosen its grip on our minds, Shakira also followed up that release with the unveiling of her new single, "Loca".

"Loca" (featuring Dizzee Rascal) is a remake of "Loca Con Su Tuguer", a popular Latin track by El Cata, and is also the lead single off "Sale el Sol." The salsa-inspired melody mixed with a fresh modern sound had us shaking our hips manically while playing the song on repeat for about an hour! The album will feature guest appearances by Calle 13, El Cata, and Dizzee Rascal, and if "Loca" is any indication of what's to come, we cannot WAIT until the album is released on October 19, 2010!
